CLINICS Students who are enrolled in any of the professional courses are required to complete a number of clinical hours at ACNT’s Student Clinic For further details please see ACNT Student Training Clinics on page 10 of the prospectus. COMMON AREAS Common areas are provided at the Surry Hills campus for students’ comfort with facilities including a microwave, refrigerators, student notice boards, lounges, chairs and tables. Students of ACNT are welcome to eat and drink in these areas, undertake some quiet study or find an area to relax between classes. Similar facilities are available at the Glebe Student Clinic. COMPUTER ROOM ACNT has up to date computer facilities equipped with flat screen monitors available to all ACNT students in the comprehensive library. The computers are connected to ACNT’s high bandwidth backbone and use high speed Internet facilities. The computers have Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint for the preparation of assignments and students may print their work in black and white or colour for a minimal cost. ACNT maintains an Online Student Centre specifically for ACNT students, with links to many resources of interest to students. The Online Student Centre is available here. These facilities are all provided free of charge to ACNT students. DISPENSARY ACNT’s Glebe Student Clinic has a well equipped dispensary which includes herbal fluid extracts, homoeopathic remedies, Bach Flowers and Australian Bush Flower essences. Students may use this dispensary under the guidance of the clinic supervisors. A number of ‘practitioner only’ ranges of vitamins are available at a reduced rate for the benefit of students and patients. LIBRARY The expansion of ACNT’s library has allowed for a far more comprehensive reference library of natural medicine and beauty therapy texts. In addition there are now more computer facilities in the new computer room and also greater areas in which students can relax whilst taking in the city skyline. Students may utilise ACNT’s library for study and research purposes. ACNT’s librarian is available to answer any queries and offer assistance. These facilities are provided free of charge to ACNT students and the library is open Monday to Friday during semester. PHOTOCOPIERS Card operated high speed copiers are available at ACNT’s library and the Glebe Student Clinic for student use. Reusable cards are available in multiple denominations from $5. A $2 deposit is required. WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS For students with their own notebook computers, ACNT offers high speed wireless Internet access. Access is free of charge and is available in most areas of the Surry Hills campus. Please contact the library for a configuration sheet. ACNT MERCHANDISE ACNT offers a wide range of items for sale in ‘Nourish – ACNT Café and Bookstore’ and also at the online store . Some of these items include textbooks, ACNT t-shirts, ACNT uniforms, ACNT DVDs, massage oils and balms, massage benches, herbal preparations, vitamins and minerals and beauty therapy products. BICYCLE RACKS ACNT provides bicycle racks in the car park at the Surry Hills campus. These bike racks are for the exclusive use of ACNT students and staff and are provided on a space available basis for non motorised bicycles only. Hundreds of links are also available at the click of a mouse to resources all over the world to assist with studying and assignments, as well as keeping up to date with all the latest medical and natural medicine spheres. There are also links to professional associations, libraries, magazines, journals, bookshops and other links pages. The Online Student Centre is available here STUDENT PORTAL ACNT’s Student Portal allows students to check their own academic records, fee balances and change contact details over the Internet from anywhere in the world. Using the Student Portal, ACNT students are able to gain access to information faster than ever before without waiting for invoices or academic transcripts to arrive in the mail. Best of all, ACNT provides this service free of charge to all students. ACNT ONLINE CAFÉ (BULLETIN BOARDS) ACNT’s online bulletin boards allow students and lecturers to interact with each other outside of class hours. ACNT JOB FINDER Two of the most frequent questions potential students ask are “What will I be able to do with my qualifications when I graduate?” and “How easily will I be able to find work after I finish my course?” ACNT is committed to creating and finding job opportunities for students in their chosen field. ACNT students have a range of options available to them once they graduate. Some areas that ACNT graduates move into include private practice, health resorts and day spas, teaching, employee/contract work, allied health industries and research. In 1998 ACBT commenced the ‘Job Finder’ programme which has proven to be a valuable service to students, graduates and employers alike. Employers in the health and beauty industries have always sought the services of ACNT graduates due to the thorough level of academic and clinical training. ACNT has many different methods to assist with the payment of fees. These facilities are just another way that ACNT is making natural therapies and beauty therapy education more accessible to the Australian community. Payment Option 1 – Prepay and Save This is an ideal way for students to pay their course fees before they commence study with ACNT and even receive a discount. This payment option is available to students wishing to prepay a professional course. This option is only available to students studying face to face on campus, studying professional courses where the fixed programme duration is one year or more. • Prepay and Save payments are only accepted by direct debit or by credit card. • No ACNT service fee is payable • The first payment of the Prepay and Save plan must be paid in addition to the $450 deposit for the course, in order to commence the plan • Payments will be deducted fortnightly • No cheques or over the counter payments will be accepted • Students who prepay the entire course fees from two months or longer prior to the commencement of the course will receive a 5% discount off the total cost of the course, or a 5% discount off the annual cost of the course for courses longer than one year. • Students who prepay the entire course fees from two weeks to two months prior to the commencement of the course will receive a 3% discount off the total cost of the course, or a 3% discount off the annual cost of the course for courses longer than one year. Payment Option 2 – Annual Payment Students must pay the entire annual course fee, two weeks or more prior to the commencement of a professional course. Students using this payment option will receive a 5% discount which will be deducted from the fixed course price. This discount is only available to students studying face to face on campus, studying professional courses where the fixed programme duration is one year or more and is only available to students who are NOT participating in a Prepay and Save plan (Payment Option 1). Payment Option 3 – Semester Payment Where a course has a duration of one year or more, two payments of 50% of the fixed price of the course must be made. Each payment must be received two weeks prior to the commencement of each semester. This option is only available to students studying face to face on campus, studying professional courses where the fixed programme duration is one year or more. Payment Option 4 – Pay While You Study ACNT offers Pay While You Study plans to students for a variety of courses. Pay While You Study allows for regular payments to be made throughout a student’s course and are available to Australian students for most professional courses, subject to an approval process being successful. Terms and conditions apply and charges are payable. Please contact the Student Finance Officer for details. • Payment for Pay While You Study is accepted by direct debit or by credit card and a service fee is charged • The first payment of Pay While You Study must be paid in addition to the $450 deposit for the course in order to commence the plan • Six equal fortnightly payments will be deducted for each semester of study. • No cheques or over the counter payments will be accepted • Penalties will be incurred for late or missed payments, and/or cancellation • Withdrawal from the course will necessitate immediate and full payment of any remaining payments This option is only available to students studying face to face on campus, studying professional courses where the duration is one year or more. This option is not available to international students. Payment Option 5 – Module by Module Payment Students may pay for each module within their course as they progress, paying for modules one at a time. The entire cost of a course may be higher than paying the fixed course price using this option, however no additional fees or charges are payable and no approval process is required. Please see the module price list at the back of the prospectus or contact a course advisor for further details. This option is not available to international students. • Students may pay for each module up to two weeks prior to the commencement of each module according to the module prices at the back of the prospectus • Students may not change from this Module by Module to any other method of payment after three modules of a course have been started Deferred Student Loan The National Australia Bank’s Tertiary Student Package (TSP) loan is for students who are over 18 years of age and are studying full time and allows students to borrow between $2,000 and $20,000 to cover the cost of fees. This load is available to ACNT full time students who are either Australian citizens or permanent residents. Terms and conditions apply and fees are payable. For more details please contact the National Australia Bank on 13 22 65. Please apply to the bank at least one month prior to course commencement as ACNT cannot hold places pending loan approval. ACNT Spa Therapy Training Facility ACNT’s glamorous state of the art facility was designed to operate in the same manner as found in the world’s most exclusive resorts and spas and includes a Nautica VII Vichy Spa. ACNT’s spa training facility is unique for the spa industry in Australia, a day spa within a classroom. The spa training room is outfitted with the latest equipment, premium fittings, Italian floor and wall tiles and is enclosed in floor to ceiling glass. Students can be trained in all many of spa therapy treatments, some of which are exclusive to ACNT in an environment which just doesn’t exist anywhere else in Australia or even in most parts of the world. By gaining expertise in the use of various spa treatments ACNT’s graduates will have a leading edge in practical spa skills which will open doors in both the spa and body therapy industries.
